University of Kentucky Limestone Park Student Housing

Project Description

Deconstruction of the Sarah Bennett Holmes Women’s Residential Hall to pave the way for the new Limestone Park student housing building, revealed an interesting find!  A time capsule was unearthed in the excavation.  It was found that the time capsule is from 1958.  You can read about it and watch a video about it, by going to the University of Kentucky’s facebook page and scrolling to a post on August 8, 2016.

The new Limestone Park II building is part of an $84 million renovation project that the University of Kentucky has undertaken in order to increase their housing capacity by an additional 1,100 beds.  The veneer of the building boasts a gorgeous curtainwall and glass entryway.  Strong Tower is proud to have been able to utilize their 80 years of excellence on this project.  The building not only has curtainwall, but also fire rated glass, and beautiful mirrors.    The building has 2 bedroom suite-style living and a living-learning program in this Co-ed dorm where 645 residents live.  There are study rooms on each floor, a recreation room, and a community kitchen, along with laundry facilities, covered bike parking, and high-speed internet access.
